I send allot of e-mails that use templates so I have been looking for a good text replacement template utility for a long time. I have tried several programs and I even purchased one called QuickPhrase, but none of the programs that I tried were satisfactory. Among other annoyances, Quick phrase would cause my keyboard and / or my clipboard to work preform erratically, or to not work at all. It would past without a problems in some programs but it would not paste at all in others. One of the programs that I tried claims to be freeware for non-commercial users but as you use it, it starts to tell you that you are a commercial user and that you have to pay of you want to continue using it. I have no idea how it determined that I am a commercial user because I am not. I suspect that it come to this determination for everyone, no matter what they do, how they use it.
I was very happy when I ran across Flashpaste because it works well and it does not have any gimmicks or make any false claims. Flashpaste is not free ware, but it is well worth the price because it works well, it well designed and the interface is easy to work with.
Since I have tried several of this type of program I have leaned that loading phrases into the programs database, can be a chore. Flashpaste makes this chore easier by automatically using the text that is in the clipboard (which can be edited later) for the body and title of the saved phrase. Flashpaste works with all of the programs that I have tried it with and it has not caused any malfunctions of my clipboard or my keyboard. It has never failed to paste phrases like the it's competitors often. Another thing that I really like about Flashpaste is that it has a version that will run from my thumb drive. I find this very convenient when I switch between my laptop, my net book and my desktop computers.
Overall I highly recommend Flashpaste as an excellent and very useful program.
